Summary
The underground driller works in constant collaboration with the underground drill helper to ensure proper drilling operations. He is fully accountable for performance and productivity, always in a safe environment at the workplace.
Main tasks and Responsibilities
- Supervises the driller helper;
- Knows how to analyze plans and specifications;
- Drills with the aid of an air or electric diamond drill;
- Ensures proper operation of the drill controls;
- Sees to equipment stock to be used;
- Assists in the displacement and installation of the drill at the drilling site;
- Conducts orientation tests inside the drill hole;
- Respects and applies the Orbit Garant Drilling methods and procedures for Health and Safety;
- Ensures maintenance of repairs to the drill;
- Performs any other related tasks linked to the job.
Profile and Requirements
- Have experience as a driller helper in diamond drilling;
- Hold the Mining Worker Training Module 1-2-3-4-5-7;
- Hold or be able to obtain a valid explosive permit;
- Hold a valid driver’s licence;
- Able to work as a team
- Have good physical capacity and stamina;
- Ability to adapt in an underground environment (heat, humidity, restricted access, dust);
- Be comfortable and motivated in a production job.
